Day 90 Bagel and Mellow Mushroom

This morning for breakfast I decided to have a leftover bagel. I decided to toast it, a first for me. Yeah I know that was a small thing, but it was yummy. Looking forward to seeing what Taylor got into today.

So I've been to mellow mushroom before but I can't even tell you when it was. I know i was pretty young. Anyway, my boss offered to take those that could make it to dinner. It's always a fun experience getting together a random group of Chick-fil-A employees together because you never know who will show. But it's definitely always a great time!

Day 89 Volunteer at Knoxville Marathon and new drink at sonic

My day (Lynn) started very early for a Sunday morning. I volunteered to work the 10th Annual Coventant Marathon. I worked Volunteer check-in. It was cold but it was a lot of fun. If you can't run, you help. I will do this again.

So my usual drink of choice at sonic is a diet cherry limeade. This go around I decided to try something different. So I got a grape slush. I must say, it was tasty for the first few sips but then it became a very frustrating drink because the syrup was gone so I was mostly drinking melted crushed ice. Probably won't get that anymore.

Day 88 New Recipe and Dave and Busters

Today my (Lynn) stitch and bitch group got together. We get together every couple of months and share our love of quilting, food and usually wine. It is always a great day. Today we decided to have brunch. Now those of you who know me know I seldom cook anymore. Friday I found a recipe for a breakfast casserole. You take tortilla shells, fill the with sausage and cheese. Then pour a mixture of eggs, half and half over the top. Refrigerate over night, then bake the next morning. It was delicious.
We spent the rest of this rainy afternoon watching movies. Nice day.

Today I (Taylor) was forced (willingly) out of the house. Josh and I have been hermits for the last couple of weeks trying to spend less. So one of my best friends and her husband told me I had no choice but to join them at my sorority's fundraiser for Prevent Child Abuse America. Take a look at all of the wings we had at Wing Fling!

After a quick trip home and about a 5 minute cat nap, we all went to Dave and Busters with my other best friend and her husband. This is where the first takes place. We all split 4 player cards that each had 170 coins to play games. I haven't been to an arcade with the purpose of getting tickets to get prizes in forever. I was like a little kid. It was nice to get to have some fun and get out of the house with some of my favorite people!

Day 87 Fantasy of Trees and Back Bends

My first today (Lynn) was applying to do a tree at the Fantasy of Trees. What you ask is the Fantasy of Trees? It is a fund raiser for the Children's Hospital here in Knoxville. Every year on Thanksgiving weekend local designers decorate Christmas trees that are sold to local businesses. The event is special to me. It has always been the way I kick off the holidays. They always have a kids area and my kids and I have spent hours making cookies, ornaments and other holiday decorations. I never feel like it is holiday if I miss it. I thought it would be fun to decorate a tree. I found out you had to apply. I got my application today so I filled it out and put it back in the mail. I won't find out for awhile if I get to do a tree. So keep your fingers crossed.

Today, I (Taylor) was really stuck on what to do. So I took it back to my childhood. I decided to do a back bend/bridge. Not on of those where you're standing and you fall backwards. The kind where you  start on your back and do a bridge up from there. Needless to say, I'm not as flexible or "fit" as I was when I was younger. I didn't stay up long because I started to get a cramp. How sad is that? Oh well. That's what happens when you age.

Day 86 hamburgers and Jim Henson

So when I (Taylor) was younger I feel like I have a memory of eating hamburgers a lot. I could be wrong (and mom can correct me if I am). But I never dealt with the meat. That is unless it was getting browned for something like spaghetti or hamburger helper. Tonight I was going to learn to grill. Which in a sense I guess I did but my actual first came when I mixed up that hamburger meat and spices together and patted out hamburgers. Josh couldn't believe I hasn't done it before. But now, 26 years later, I can say I have.

We may have had hamburgers a lot since it is one of my favorite foods. When we grilled out they  were usually on the menu. I can believe you never made them. You have always hated touching raw meat. Lol  Now on to my first. I am still fighting my cold so I needed something that required me to expend no energy. I told sister Marian to find us something new to watch. NCAA Basketball preempted our "Big Bang". She suggested "Jim Henson's Creature Shop Challenge" on Syfy. It was a fascinating show. The contestants create creatures. Such talent. I was sorry there was not another one on.

Day 85 gameshow struggle and class action suit

As I (Taylor) laid in bed I struggled to figure out what my first would be. Especially since it's nearing the end of the day. So I decided (after much googling) to apply to be on a gameshow. I tried wheel of fortune but got towards the end and realized it required a video. Well that's not going to happen. At least not tonight. So my attempt was a fail but I tried!

I also had a hard time today. I have a cold so I feel like crap so my options were limited. Then I remembered I got an email from Apple and Amazon today. I was part of a class action lawsuit and now my account would be created with some money. So there you go - I have never been a part of a class action lawsuit. I did not have to do anything to be part of this one but I used my proceeds to buy some books. I love free money!

Day 84 game of arms and reading 3 books at once

It's a bit chilly again here in good ole TN. I'm ready for spring! None of this cold snowy business for a while please!

Today I (Taylor) watched what I would call a very STUPID show! It's called Game of Arms. It's all about arm wrestling. They're world champ arm wrestlers and everything! The show covers the "training" they go thru for matches and everything. I think I wasted almost and hour of my life watching it.

Taylor and I agree - Spring needs to hurry up and get here. So tired of the cold. My first today came about because of our new internet service. The service guy came and hooked everything up and my IPad would not connect to it. He worked on it forever and finally said I needed a new IPad. Comcast had not turned off our service yet (even though they were supposed to) so Marian hooked up our router and I can get service in my room. Weird, huh? On to my first. I was already reading 2 books on my iPad and when I did not have access to that I started a third. So currently I am reading three books at once. I did not have access because Marian had taken my iPad to the Apple store where they reset it to factory standards hoping that would help. I was the one who suggested we change internet providers. It is saving us money but not worth saving money if I cannot use my iPad in the house since Comcast will turn off the internet at some point. Very frustrating evening. BTW I never read more than one book at a time but one of the books on my iPad is a borrow from the Library and since I was not enjoying the one I was reading I started it.

Day 83 Margarita and cantaloupe

Today's first for me was a margarita. I met a friend for dinner at my favorite Mexican restaurant so I decided to try a margarita. The first sip was a little sour but after that it tasted good. Now I am sitting here nervously watching the Lady Vols play. It would be so wonderful for them to win and make the sweet 16. Then both our teams would advance in the Big Dance. Go Tennessee!

Sounds weird to have never had canteloupe right? Well I have. But it's been a really long time. While grocery shopping josh decided he wanted some to snack on while making dinner. So I tried some. Still feel the same. Definitely not really a fan.

Day 82 Changes and chocolate gravy

Today was about changes and saving. (Lynn) We had to get Mom a new telephone today. Hers was a hand me down from me and I have had at least four new phones since I gave it to her. I had been trying to get Marian to talk to AT & T about changing our telephone and cable plans to save money. We have not changed either since we moved into the house I think.  Well we changed both. The new cable and internet is being installed Tuesday. We will be saving about $150 a month! WOOT!

Heck to the yeah for saving money!! Today, I (Taylor) really wanted some chocolate gravy. The cooking husband of mine was sound asleep so I figured I would try. Well we didn't have enough milk so I subbed water. I'm pretty sure that was my problem. But it never thickened up. (Don't tell josh but I've always thought his was more like gloopy chocolate than gravy) but even after leaving it on the stove top (yes the eyes were off) while we were gone to see Josh's family 2 hours away, it still never thickened up! Oh well. Failed attempts happen.

Day 81 Blue Jean quilt and Pickers Creek

Today was my second class with quilt artist Hollis Chatelain. We took blue jeans and made an art quilt. It was a lot of fun and she is such a wonderful teacher. Here is the start of the quilt:

and here is the quilt almost finished.

The technique is easy. I am looking forward to experimenting with it some more.

Tonight Josh and I headed to Lewisburg for a birthday party for Laura. We went to this adorable little winery called Pickers Creek Winery. It's nothing like Arrington that we've been to a few times before. I've definitely discovered that I'm a dessert wine kind of girl. I'm not the biggest fan of much else. But Happy Birthday Laura!!

One of my favorite parts of the winery was the porch swing. I LOVE porch swings!

A beautiful setting, great wine, and wonderful people.

And if you know my husband, you know this is totally him.

Day 80 Five Below and Huge TV

There is a new store in the same shopping center that I  (Taylor) work in that just opened up today. So naturally (even though we have no expendable money) I wanted to go in. It's called Five Below and obviously everything is $5 and under. They actually have some name brand things and collegiate and nfl branded items. It's a really cool store and I see it being a problem in my future. They even apparently have $.05 hotdog days! I'm not overly excited about that aspect but some of you might be!

This is the TV I watched the UT vs UMASS basketball game on the afternoon. Everyone at work gathered in the Football meeting room and cheered our Vols on to victory. It was fun to watch the game with everyone at work and it was the largest TV I have ever seen.

Day 79 Hollis Chatelain and Mug Cake

Today I was fortunate to take a class today with quilt artist Hollis Chatelain. You should check out her website hollisart.com. Her work is amazing. I saw some of her work at the quilt museum in Paducah a few years ago, so when I saw she was coming to teach at A Mountain Quiltfest, I knew I had to take a class from her. The class I took was about learning how to quilt your quilt. We were told to bring a quilt top and the class would discuss ways to quilt it. It was a great class and I learned a lot. But the best part of the class was when she pulled out her award winning quilts and we could see them up close. You will have to go to her website to see pictures. She does not allow cameras in her classroom.

Tonight I (taylor obviously) decided I wanted chocolate. I have seen tons of mug cakes and cookies before but we never had all of the ingredients to make any. But tonight we did! I made a peanut butter chocolate chunk cake. The top was really yummy. Gooey and moist. But I think that's where all the chocolate chunks were. Once you got past that it was awful. Dry and tasteless. Here are some pics.

The ingredients and my mug (ignore the soap, protein powder and kcups). Pretty easy.

This is the finished product. Looks decent right? Not so much though. I was missing hot fudge syrup and a PB moose topping thought.

Day 78 Spoonflower fabric designing and march madness

I always seem to be the first to write, (Lynn) probably because I live in the Eastern Time Zone. I am very excited about today's first. There is
a website called Spoonflower. You can buy fabric there but what fascinates me is you can take a design you have made and they will print your design on fabric. I downloaded the design I made using my Gelli plate. (Check out day 40). In a few weeks a yard of fabric will arrive in my mailbox. How exciting is that?

There is a tendency for mom to write first because (like she said) she's in eastern time. So I'm an hour behind. Which means I'm usually up after her and don't get around to writing until bed time.

Tonight my first comes with march madness. I've done brackets before but never been in a league with legit money on the line. So Josh finally sent me an invitation to the league he created and there are about 14 others in the league so far. Not that there's much time left haha. But that's my first! We'll see just how bad I am since I know nothing about the teams excluding UT and UK.

Just FYI I picked Florida to win the championship.

Day 77 Designed banner and the alphabet

My quilt guild is having their 34th Annual Quilt Show May 23-25. I am one of the co-chairs. Today I designed the banner to say thank you to our sponsors. I have sent it to my co-chair to get her approval. Not an exciting first but I have never done it, so a first.

Yesterday and today have really been rough for josh and I. With some unfortunate situations and my workin long hours yesterday and today, a first completely slipped my mind. As I woke up on the couch from josh telling me to go to bed, I realized at 2am I still hadn't done a first for the day! So I headed over to Lu Ann's blog to see if there were any quick ones I could do while in bed. So after enlisting her help I decided I would try to recite the alphabet backwards. It's definitely not very easy! It took me a good 5 or 6 times worth of practice to actually get it somewhat smooth. But I did it!

Day 76 My Own Blog and PB2

Taylor made our joint blog. I really appreciate her doing that but I wanted to do my own. It can continue after our year of "first". It will be a place for me to showcase my quilts, my crochet projects, talk about books I love, movies and TV shows. I am very uneasy showing my work in public but sometimes I am very excited about what I am working on. So I created All My Hobbies on Blogger.

I (Taylor) think it's pretty awesome that mom started her own blog all by herself (with no help from anyone!)

Today I decided to try out my new PB2 I bought/found at Kroger. I had just been talking to mom about if it was sold in stores and while I was doing my normal grocery shopping I stumbled upon some!

So I mixed it up with some chocolate protein powder, milk, strawberry yogurt and ice to make a protein shake. It was horrible! I've decided I'm not a fan of protein shakes (so far at least).

Day 75 Breakfast with Taylor

I know that sound like an odd first but whenever I go visit, I get up early Sunday and leave. I am an early morning person. I am usually up by 6. I don't like sitting around especially when I know I have a ton of things I need to do at home. But this morning we were actually considering doing another first but decided to wait until we had more time so we went to breakfast. It was nice to share that. We had such a good time on Saturday and this just topped it off.

I'll piggy back on Mom's first. Breakfast on Sunday before Mol heads back home never happens. It was definitely a nice change!

Day 74 geographical center of the state

Mom and Aunt Mary are in the boro visiting. They went to the Billy Joel concert last night.

Today we decided we would explore the city and we wound our way to the geographical center of TN which is really close to the campus of MTSU. Here are a couple of pictures from our trip there. (We found a scavenger hunt note while there).

The chocolate truffle was purchased while shopping on the square. We also drove around the campus, had breakfast at Mimi's Cafe (mom and aunt mary had never been), walked around downtown Mboro, went to the public library, and painted pottery. I can't wait to see how those turned out! For dinner we headed to Millers Grocery (again mom and aunt mary had never been) and then to the general store where I bought a super cute old window!

I (Lynn) wanted to add that today was so much fun. Lots of first and sharing them with Taylor and Marian made them special.

Day 73 Bald in the Boro and Billy Joel

Today I had a work event at a fundraiser for childhood cancer. The Beehive Salon hosted (at a local bowling alley) St. Baldricks Bald in the Boro. Shavees (as they were called) raised money and got donations an shaved their heads. There were oddly enough a lot of women than shaved their heads at the event. It was pretty awesome getting to see but I definitely don't have the guts to shave my head!

Billy Joel has been my favorite singer since 1978 when I discovered his music. When Taylor told me he was coming to Nashville I knew I had to be there. We were worried that our third level seats would be horrible but they turned out great. We were right beside the stage and being high did not matter because of the big screen. I spent the first ten years of my work life in the concert business. Since then I have attended tons of concerts. I can hands down say, Billy's concert was the best EVER! I actually cried when he sang "New York State of Mind". I loved that the first hour he sang songs from his early albums that did not chart. He was funny, his voice was strong and his fingering was amazing. It was a fabulous evening with Mr. Joel.

Day 72 Lunch & Learn and Titans stadium tour

The department I work for at the University had a Lunch and Learn today. Three nutrition students taught a 30 minute class while we ate our lunch. It was very interesting. The students had worked very hard on their presentation. It was very professional. Something I learned - there is sodium in cottage cheese. In most cheese actually. And in milk. You expect it in canned food but cheese. Who knew. I felt bad for the students. There were only two of us who showed up. I hope they continue the program and maybe more people will come. (This is Lynn, BTW.)

Tonight josh and I went to LP Field for a season ticket holder event with the titans. We got to tour the stadium (including the owner's suite, visitor and titans locker room and the field). We weren't overly excited about going but we ended up having a good time! As usual with any sporting event, josh was like a little kid (ie: Rupp Arena and UK vs Louisville for Christmas ). Here are a few shots. My favorite is the collage of just him.

Mike Keith (voice of the titans), owners press suite, TRacs car and closet, and some jerseys.

Josh holding a military football, him in shoulder pads, puttin on Justin Hunter's gloves, gloves again, holding up Justin Hunter's jersey, and him in a helmet.

Josh and Locker's locker (hehe), jumbotron, us kissing on the 50 yard line (yes we're dorks!), josh and is model pose on the field, and finally him and a player figurine.

And that's our night :-)

Day 71 Camp Meeting and food/stress diary

Today's first for me (Lynn) happened at work. My boss was out of town and I had to take his place at a meeting. It is hard for me to talk in front of a crowd so this was a challenge. But I did it and I think I did okay. No one threw rocks. ;)

Today I decided to try to dig more into my headaches. I had a horrible migraine yesterday and still had a little bit of one today. I did a little research and decided to make a food diary to see when and what I eat to see if those are triggers. I also added in stress for the day to see of stress is a factor. Hopefully this will help figure out why I'm getting them!

Day 70 Real housewives and Meditation

Today was challenging for me (Lynn). I slept badly and then work was crazy. By the time I got home I was brain dead. Marian made a number of suggestions but most required me to think too much.  Then she suggested watching a real housewife show.  We decided on "Private Lives of Nashville Wives". I grew up in Nashville so I enjoyed the scenery but their lives were boring. I don't understand the appeal. I will stick with "The Amazing Race" and "Survivor".

I (Taylor) only care for a couple of the Real Housewives shows. The Nashville version I'm not a fan of. I'll get my Nashville scenery fix from visiting and watching the show nashville! Today was a struggle for myself as well. I had a work event tonight but due to a killer migraine I ended up having to leave. After texting Mom for an idea I thought well why not give her suggestion a try! Her suggestion? Meditation (and classical music, but I left that part out). The mediation was nice. Well excluding the part of a barking dog that wanted her daddy home in the background. It didn't cure my migraine but it helped me relax. Which I'm assuming is the real purpose behind meditation. I listed to some "spa" music while I did it and that just really made me want to go for a massage. Maybe I'll talk josh into buying me a massage soon.

Happy Tiesday!

A few shots from our kids night before I left :)

Day 69 Guest Blog

Taylor and I shared our first today. I was contacted a couple of weeks ago by Lu Ann Cahn. Lu Ann was the inspiration for our year of first. She learned of our journey after I posted on her Facebook page called I Dare Me to...... We were so excited when she asked us to guest blog. Here is the link.
http://luanncahn.com/2014/03/motherdaughter-like-giving-firsts-tenn/
Be sure and check it out. I would also like to recommend her book, "I Dare Me: How I Rebooted and Recharged My Life by Doing Something New Every Day..." This has been a great adventure and I know there are so many fun things in our future.

One cool thing to add to the day for me (Taylor) was this: one of my friends had posted on FB that she was going flying with her dad today. I commented on how I would love for that (flying in a 2 seater) to be one of my firsts this year. She asked her dad and he said he would take me and that he even knew about our blog! How cool!

Day 68 new chicken and no Facebook/emails/texts

So my day has mainly revolved around work. Yes, on a Sunday ;-)

We're launching new grilled chicken tomorrow. Which in marketing land means new menu boards and price changes. So I, along with Betsy, spent 3 hours making the changes. We also got to try the new chicken. (That being my first) I must say "fan-freaking-tastic" !!! Definitely a must try. It's currently the healthiest grilled chicken in the quick service (fast food) industry right now. Can't wait to try our new club (which has always been my fav!)

And that my friends is an example of how Chick-fil-A is my life: I get really excited about new chicken/products and must tell all of you!

Moms first takes it back to the good ole days of only communicating through phone calls. So I'm sure she'll update tomorrow on how that went! Mom here and back to the internet world. It was strange not checking Facebook or emails all day. I found myself on more than one occasion reaching for my IPad to see what was happening in the world. I found out this morning I did not miss much. I did enjoy just reading my book all day without interference from text, emails and Facebook. I think I will try this more often. It certainly frees up some time.

Day 67 New Baby and Busting a Rut

Happy Birthday to the newest member of the Warren clan and my nephew, Tylen! Tylen was born yesterday just before noon. I was able to go visit him and Andrea this morning and later tonight. I'll say this, that boy (not unexpectedly) stole my heart. He's precious!

And happy early birthday to my best friends hubby, Chris! I hope you enjoyed your surprise party!

Tylen is a cutie! Congrats to the Warren clan. Now on to my day. (Lynn) I was quite challenged making breakfast this morning. I made cinnamon rolls but had no milk to make the icing. I took a chance and tried water and a little almond extract. It was quite tasty. That got me thinking about my first for the day. Why not try to do something new with everything I did all day. So here is a list of everything I did today and my first for each thing. You never realize how much of a rut you are in until you try to shake things up.
Grocery shopping -Did not push the buggy
Lunch - Different condiment on sandwich
UT game - entered by a different door and went left instead of right
Dinner - new deli
Movie - Sat on top row instead of regular seats

So I would call the day a success. Rut was broken!

Congrats to both basketball teams on big victories!

Day 66 Stomp and hair cut!!

I (Lynn) went to see Stomp tonight. It was wonderful. I was surprised by how funny it was. It was so fun to watch the children in the audience. They loved it.

Well, today was the day. I (Taylor) was going to put it off until later in the summer but I decided to just do it. One of the firsts I had decided to do this year was cut and donate my hair. Here is the result:

Before

During (9 inches gone!)

and after!

Day 65 Magazine subscription and basketballs

(Lynn) Tonight is a quiet night at home. There was no opportunity to do a first before work because I was trying to repair my sewing machine. It quit working a couple of mornings ago. At lunch I ran my machine to the repair shop. I was stumped. Then I thought...I sure wish I had a magazine to read. I love magazines. I only subscribe to Southern Living though. There is a fairy new quilt magazine that enjoy. They were not offering subscriptions for awhile. Well now they are...electronically. I purchased a years subscription to "Quilty" magazine.

I (Taylor) took forever to get today's first posted because I was trying to add the video josh took of me. But I inlisted the help of josh for this one. Josh loved basketball so I made him help me spin a basketball on my finger. FYI - I'm horrible at it!

Day 64 The Trip to Bountiful and hot chocolate

My first (Lynn) today was seeing the play "The Trip to Bountiful". It was not good. Lol

Now, if you know my mom, you know I grew up drinking hot cocoa when it's cold. So it's nothing new for me. But how I made it a first was by using my keurig! Mom bought it for me as a surprise a little while before Christmas and I've only used it for coffee. But my brain got to thinking... Surely I can just use hot water from it. And sure enough! No K Cup hot cocoa needed!

Day 63 car seat install and Union Ave

Today I (Taylor) had the opportunity to pick up one of my nephews from school/daycare. Since I don't have children I had to install his car seat in my car before I could drive him and myself to his house for some Zac and Tay Tay fun! I not being a mom have never installed one before!

The Union Avenue Bookstore is one of my (Lynn) favorite local businesses. I am a big fan of buying local. This past Christmas I purchased all my gifts from local businesses. Anyway  I got an email from them today talking about a grant program the James Patterson is running. He is giving money to small bookstores. If you go to www.jamespatterson.com/booksellers you can nominate your favorite locally owned bookstore. So that's what I did. Support your community - buy local!

Day 62 White Chapel and Craigslist

I (Lynn) decided to try a new TV show. Whitechapel a British show. The show is based on the murders committed by Jack the Ripper. It's a good show. Bloodier and more nudity than US television. The only problem was the TV kept losing the Wifi connection and stopped playing.

I (Taylor) decided to try to get rid of some items in my house and actually posted an ad on Craigslist. I've got a few responses so far. Hopefully I'll sell this stuff ASAP!

Day 61 Dessert Day and Pinterest tryout

I (Lynn) did not start out having today be my dessert all day, but after Girl Scout cookies for breakfast, then Marian buying cotton candy at the Lady Vols basketball game, it seemed like a good idea to just have dessert for dinner. So after the game, we went and got dessert for dinner. Having dessert all day is not really satisfying though.

Thank right there looks delish tho! But I can't imagine how I would feel if all I ate was desserts for the day. Especially after knowing how I felt after my endeavor yesterday.

Today I (Taylor) debated back and forth on what to do. I debated trying kiwi but after cutting it up for fruit bowls for josh I decided I wasn't sure I could. It was very slimy and gross. So I decided I would give a try to something I've seen on Pinterest a number of times.

Josh will be the first to tell you just how awful my work shoes are. My feet could kill someone with how bad they smell because of them. I've had a new pair for a couple of months but they're too tight on my feet. Tonight I remembered I saw on Pinterest how to make them fit.

Rumor has it if you put on 3 pairs of socks and put heat from a hair dryer on them for 10 minutes they'll fit perfectly. (Loving my style above)

I'll say this, it actually worked! Tomorrow will be the test though. I'm thinking I'm going to have to wear bandaids to start with because they still feel like they'll rub my heels until I get used to them. But at least they aren't squishing my fat feet much anymore!

Day 60 copycat meals and Medal of Honor Quilt

Today has turned into a very lazy day for me (Taylor). It started off with breakfast at one of my local favorites: Goodness Gracious. They're moving locations to about half an hour away this month so I wanted to go one more time before they did. After breakfast and picking up my car from the dealership (baby needed an oil change) I headed back home. Napped on and off for a while. We were planning on grilled but josh ended up eating with his brother. So I opted to eat my leftovers. So breakfast and dinner were the exact same meal today.

I (lLynn) was not lazy today. I did 2 loads of laundry for my friend, Carol and then 3 of my own. I made nine quilt blocks toward a new quilt I am working on. My first today was finishing the Medal of Honor quilt that my art quilt group made together. It's my first time doing a joint effort like that. Some history. The Medal of Honor convention is being held in Knoxville in September. My quilt guild along with several other people are making a quilt for each living recipient of the Medal of Honor. The quilts will be presented to them at the convention. My art quilt group decided we would make one. I made some blocks along with everyone else, we all worked to sew them together. Jan quilted it. I did the binding and the hanging sleeve. I think it is beautiful.

I also made one of my own but of course I forgot to get a picture. The quilts that have been finished by May will hang at our Quilt Show on May 23-25. If you are in the Maryville, Tennessee area stop by Maryville College and see the show. I promise you will see some incredible quilts.

BTW- Taylor you were correct in your answer, it was onion rings. You have made me so proud!
