Day 97 Final Four and Rosie the Riveter

So today, I (Taylor) am using my husband as my first. I fought this hard but josh went to the final four (men's) in Dallas this morning. He left at 5am to drive 10 hours by himself to go watch his beloved Cats in the game. So my first you ask? Getting to watch my husband take off and do something that has been on his bucket list for a while. Is that a cop out?

One of the greatest thing about traveling with senior citizens is hearing their stories. Gladys, a close friend of my Mom's, was telling me about how she met her first husband. After high school she did not want to head north to find work because she hates the cold. There were no jobs in her hometown of Crossville so she took off for Florida and warm weather. She found a job welding on ships on the Panhandle. She was a Rosie the Riveter! She meet her husband on the ship where he also worked. She is 89 years old and still gets around and is smart as a whip. She travels as much as she can and has been to 49 states. I had the best time talking to her all week.

Day 96 climb Nashville and riding on bus with 40 strangers

Back in January, I (Taylor) bought Mom and I indoor rock climbing passes on LivingSocial. Unfortunately Mom wasn't able to make it up to use them before they expired for a few reasons. So Josh and I decided to do a first together today and use them. I've confirmed the fact that I don't like heights even when I'm attached to something I know will catch me if I fall. Needless to say I didnt enjoy it very much. Josh, on the other hand, seemed to have a lot of fun.

Mom is on a short blog hiatus as she is on vacation. She'll update when she gets back :-)

Mom is back. Today's first was riding on a bus all day with 40 strangers. I went with my sweet Mother and older sister, Karen on a week long vacation to New Orleans.  Little sister, Marian was going to join us but she had to go to California for business. I don't really care for riding on a bus for traveling. It makes me feel confined and I like the control of driving myself. Mom really wanted us all to take this trip together so I went. Riding on a bus with a bunch of strangers - not fun. But I got through it.

Day 95 No Dishes and Barre Fitness

I (Lynn) have a problem. If sweet sister Marian does not get something done when I expect it to get done, I will do it myself. Then I will be mad at myself for doing it. Marian's alarm did not go off Friday morning and she had to rush out the door without doing the dishes. (It was her turn.) in the past, I would have done those dishes. But not this time. Good for me! I put them in a trash bag where they will wait for her to get home. Now we are both happy.

Sweet Momma standing up for herself :-) today, I got up an went to a new fitness class. I bought a groupon a while back for a barre fitness class. So I finally took my first class this morning. I actually really enjoyed it. I was a bit nervous because I had to go by myself which I don't enjoy doing but the class actually challenged me more than I had anticipated. Definitely looking forward to my other classes!

Day 94 "Serenity" and Fat Moes

As everyone in my family knows I am challenged by electronics. I have never figured out how to work a VCR. Now we have a Blue Ray player which I have no idea how to work. In an earlier post, I learned to put our Amazon Prime Account on our TV screen. Last night I used our Netflix account to watch the movie "Serenity" on our TV. It was a good movie. I am sorry the TV series only lasted one year and that they only made one movies. So that was my first today - using Netflix to watch "Serenity".

Sweet little Momma :) tonight I got a text from one of my best fiend's husband to see if Josh and I wanted to go to dinner. We went to this burger joint called Fat Moes. I've live in Murfreesboro for about 9 years now and never been. It was much better than I expected. It's not the prettiest place but it definitely had some yummy food! And the burgers are huge!

Day 93 Painted shoes and #TBT

I was going to grow magic rocks tonight. (Lynn) Unfortunately you need aluminum foil for that and of course we do not have any. So here I was eight o'clock and what to do. I needed a first. As I wandered by my sewing room I saw the solution to my problem. A year ago I purchased a pair of plain, cheap tennis shoes at Walmart. So I decorated them.

What do you think? I thought they turned out cute.

How cute are those shoes Momma made!! I decided to take part in something I hate. Yes, hate. I can't stand all these days with special names just so people can post pictures of themselves "back in the good ole days." But that's what I did. I took part in throw back Thursday.

Day 92 giveaways and "Wrens" play

So with my job I get to do a lot of really cool things. Today we decided to surprise our guests that came through our drive thru during lunch. We had Cow out in his swim trunks doing his dances and I got the chance (and pleasure) to hand our chicken biscuits to 100 of our guests :-) it's those things that I get to do that grow my love for my job. I'm honestly honored to be able to have a job like this.

It warms this Mom's heart to know her child loves her job. My first today was seeing the play "Wrens" at the Lab Theatre. The plays at the lab theater are done by the younger theater students and through the years have been my favorite. This was written by Anne V. McGravie. She served in the Women's Royal Naval Service in Scotland during WWII. This play is about the end of WWII and the women having to go back to the real world. It also talks about rape and abortion and how back then the women were blamed for the rapes and abortion was illegal and very deadly at times for women. It was very emotional and makes me very thankful that I grew up during a time when women began to have freedom to choose how she wanted to live. I am very grateful to the women who game before me and fought for women's rights.

Day 91 Compliment from new boss and failed headstand

My first today (Lynn) was a feel good moment. I had a meeting with my new boss and he complimented me on a procedure I developed. It was a surprise and made me feel really good.

As the back bend should have shown me I'm not nearly as limber as I was back in the day. So mom suggested that I try a headstand. I'm wondering now if she was trying to kill me. But it was an epic fail. I hardly got anywhere close to getting up. Oh well. Never hurts to try.
